Common questions

Who needs an accessibility statement?

Under the European Accessibility Act, businesses providing covered consumer services in the EU have to publish accessibility information about those services. Public-sector bodies have a separate and older obligation under Directive (EU) 2016/2102. This generator produces a statement in the shape both regimes expect, but it does not decide which one applies to you.

Can I claim full conformance?

Only after a full manual review. Automated testing covers roughly a third of the WCAG success criteria, so a clean scan is evidence about that third and says nothing about keyboard operation, screen-reader flows or whether a task can actually be completed. A statement claiming full conformance on automated results alone is the thing enforcement bodies look for.

Is this legal advice?

No. It is a template that follows the structure the EU model statement uses. The wording is yours, the facts are yours, and the national law that applies to you is set out on the country pages.

Where does the statement go?

Somewhere a visitor can reach from every page, normally the footer, at a stable URL such as /accessibility. Link it from the same place you link your privacy policy.
